Harvest Manager

Full-time, 1 year round position

Starting wage: $16-18/hour DOE + farm food

Starting date:  ASAP, Early-Mid March

Ending date:    Year-round position

 

Job Description: 

As the harvest manager, you will be responsible for leading the daily harvest.  The ability to keep the harvest organized, moving efficiently, and motivating the crew in a timely manner is critical to the success of our operation.  During non-harvest time, the Harvest Manager joins the farm crew to work on weed management, transplanting, wash & pack produce, and other farm tasks.  This position is well suited for someone who already has some vegetable farming  experience and wants to work on their crew and harvest management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Monitoring field crops and checking for readiness and quality

• Managing up to 6 employees, 3+ days a week for harvest activities

• Planning at least two weeks in advance for what needs to be harvested

• Detailed record keeping of quantities of crops harvested

• Keeping harvest truck and harvest tools organized and clean

• Sorting and grading produce

• Working in tandem with Farm Manager and Pack Shed Manager

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year working on commercial scale vegetable farm preferred

• Precious leadership roles in workplace, preferably on a commercial scale farm

• Ability to balance time management in self-directed work and collaborative work, and ability to prioritize tasks efficiently

• Flexibility and positive attitude

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Commitment to developing strong working relationships and problem solving with the rest of the team

• Ability to set a consistent example of fast and efficient vegetable harvest that others can strive to achieve

• Ability to bend, kneel, and lift frequently

• Be able to speak in a clear and friendly manner with all kinds of people

• Be proficient in simple math and have legible handwriting
